NOTE: We are aware of the bug that causes the app to shut down when the device goes to sleep. We are working on this problem and will have a patch applied this week. Thank you for your patience!
CPR Metronome was developed by a paramedic specifically for EMS personnel to address two common issues during CPR resuscitation: inadequate compressions and over-ventilation.
To tackle these challenges, CPR Metronome emits a sound at 110 beats per minute in line with current compression guidelines, providing an audible cue for the correct compression rate. Users should compress the chest when the app produces a clicking sound. To prevent over-ventilation, a gong signals 12 breaths per minute.
These sounds are merged into a continuous audio track that plays until manually stopped. The recommended practice is to launch the app en route to a call, initiate CPR as you approach the patient, and let CPR Metronome keep time for optimal compressions and ventilations. The app starts a stopwatch upon initiation, ensuring you track CPR duration and maintain an effective compression and ventilation pace.
Besides serving as a timer for compression and ventilation rates, the audible signals act as reminders during patient care, signaling the absence of blood flow when compressions pause and prompting immediate resumption.
CPR Metronome incurred significant development costs but is priced affordably to support widespread access for providers committed to high-quality CPR. Recommendations to explore OmniMedix, EasyECG, and OmniFire aim to offset CPR Metronome's development expenses. Supporting these apps contributes to a crowdfunding approach crucial for funding medical school aspirations with the ambition of becoming an EMS Medical Director.
